Who is Gio?

The name is Giovana, but my friends call me Gio.

I am a woman, a writer, and a storyteller. In 2011, I took off to Europe for the first time, entirely unaware of what the roads and the many airports had me reserved. I had a dream, a goal, and a backpack full of empty pockets I wished to fill up with experiences. I’ve called a few countries home but found comfort in the greenery and flatness of The Netherlands, where I currently reside.

Journalist at heart -and diploma-, I’ve kept a blog written in Portuguese for a long time, but here is where I merge my thoughts and random written pieces in both languages, bringing the beauty of the Luso phonetics with the straightforwardness of English.

I am a gin lover, a travel addict, and an aspiring sailor. I enjoy a silly laugh, an unexpected phone call, and Sunday pancakes. The story that got us here isn’t that pretty, the writing isn’t always sharp, but they are just as raw and unique as I am.
